For Sale: One Baby Boy
Oh not really. But after last night...
With LM you really learn to take the bitter with the sweet. I came home last night to find a very happy boy. He was playing with his daddy and when he saw me he let out a little happy scream and started to inch worm to me smiling. It melted my heart into a sticky pool of goo.
Twenty minutes later, as I was feeding him, he started to fuss and cry and rub his head and eyes in a way that usually signifies that his broadcast day is coming to an end. B started the bath but instead of playing, or having plastic frogs balanced on his head, he kept throwing himself back in the "drowning baby" position. Luckily, I was on suicide watch and kept him above water. But, it unnerved me. He always likes the bath and hadn't thrown himself back like that in a long time.
He crashed with nary a peep and was asleep by 7:30pm.
A very false sense of security for us as we went about our night and looked forward to sweet sweet sleep.
10:30pm - LM awake and fussing enough to make me go in. Sometimes his diaper is poopy and he cannot sleep because of it. No poop.
10:45pm - fusses less and falls back to sleep
11:30pm - Awake and wailing like pins are jabbing into him. Check the diaper, nothing suspicious. Hold him, rock him. Nothing stops the crying.
midnight - maybe he is hungry? Make a bottle. He devours it.
12:10-2am - shrieking uncontrollably. Usual methods do not calm him. The only thing that calms him is if I carry him around. If I sit he cries. He is also farting a lot and rubbing his ear.
2:00am - advice nurse called. Maybe ear infection? He just had one last week! He finished the 10 course day of antibiotics on Monday! She suggests baby Motrin and see doctor in morning.
2:15am - LM falls asleep on my shoulder. I try to get comfortable propped in bed.
4am - LM awake - more shrieking. Motrin administered
4:15am - LM asleep, B takes him to crib
7:30am - LM wakes us up with happy chatter and a diaper full of small little poo pellets.
He was friggin happy all freakin' morning. His parents, on the other hand, not so much. B now calls him "that little bastard."
He has a doctor appointment at 1pm. I can't go through another night like that...
